§ Mr. MORGAN JONESasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what was the last date and place on which a person convicted on a capital charge in any of the Crown Colonies was executed in public; and if this practice has now been abolished?
§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERSo far as I am aware, there has been only one instance of a public execution for many years past in any of the Colonies or Protectorates. This case was reported to me in 1932 from Uganda, and on receipt of the report I at once issued instructions that the practice must not be repeated.
