§ Major JESSONasked the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been called to the case of one J. E. Locke, against whom in April last three non-bailable warrants were issued by the chief presidency magistrate of Calcutta, in spite of the production at the court of medical certificates verifying the serious illness of the said Locke, and which warrants were eventually cancelled by the Calcutta High Court; and whether he will institute an inquiry into the matter?
§ Sir S. HOAREI have no information regarding the case referred to. As regards the last part of the question, I have nothing to add to the replies given to the right hon. Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme (Colonel Wedgwood) and the hon. Member for East Dorset (Mr. Hall-Caine) on 24th July.
