HC Deb 19 July 1934 vol 292 cc1283-4W
Brigadier-General MAKINS

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether any approximate date has been fixed for the opening of the new Geological Museum in Exhibition Road, South Kensington?

Mr. BALDWIN

The exhibits and collections of the Museum of Practical Geology are now being transferred from the old museum in Jermyn Street to the new museum in Exhibition Road, South Kensington, but it is not anticipated that the new museum can be made completely ready for opening to the public until about June, 1935. In the meantime, the offices of the Geological Survey have remained open contiguously either at Jermyn Street or at South Kensington, where they now are. The library of the Survey at Jermyn Street will be closed on 23rd July, but it is expected that it will be reopened to the public at South Kensington in about two months from that date.
