decision to withdraw from Motor Coaches, Limited, the travel facilities they had offered the public for 14 years, for the benefit of two large rail-associated companies, the East Kent Road Car Company, Limited, and the Maidstone and District Motor Services, Limited; and whether he is aware that that decision forces Motor Coaches, Limited, to go out of business, whereas the other two companies have been able to pay good dividends since their formation?
Mr. STANLEYI presume that my hon. and gallant Friend refers to a condition attached by the Traffic Commissioners for the South Eastern Area to a licence granted to the M.T. Company for a service between London and Thanet to the 691W effect that passengers should not be picked up or set down between Swanley and Birchington. The M.T. Company appealed to me against that decision, but after careful consideration of all the relevant facts and circumstances, including the proceedings at an inquiry which I caused to be held into the matter, I reached the conclusion that I should not be justified in over-riding the Commissioners' decision. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of the letter conveying that decision.
