HC Deb 13 December 1934 vol 296 c574W
Lieut-Colonel AINSWORTH

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been called to the growing importation of cheap Russian textiles into our West African Colonies, the volume of which was 2,000,000 square yards in August last for the first eight months of this year, at which rate it will reach 4,000,000 by the end of the current year; and whether he will consider the desirability of taking steps, either by quota or otherwise, to restrict these importations, which are prejudicial to the trade of Lancashire?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I would invite my hon. and gallant Friend's attention to the answer which I gave on 28th November to a question asked by my hon. Friend the Member for Rossendale (Mr. Cross) of which I am sending him a copy.
