§ Sir H. BETTERTONI have been asked to reply. I assume that the hon. Member refers to the Convention concerning Forced or Compulsory Labour adopted by the International Labour Conference in 1930 and to the recommendation on the subject adopted by the same conference. The Convention was ratified by His Majesty's Government in 1931, and, according to my latest information, the following countries have also ratified it: Australia, Bulgaria, Chile, Denmark, Irish Free State, Japan, Liberia, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Yugoslavia. The recommendation, has been accepted by His Majesty's Government, but I have no information as to its acceptance by other countries.
