HC Deb 24 November 1933 vol 283 c408W
Mr. PERKINS

asked the Home Secretary whether he proposes to increase the number of police motor patrols; and whether he will consider the employment on this work of ex-chauffeurs with a minimum of 10 years driving experience?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The number of motor patrol vehicles is settled under arrangements concerted with the Minister of Transport, and there is no proposal before me at present to increase the number of patrols. It is necessary to draw the men from members of the various police forces, as driving experience is by no means the only experience required.
