HC Deb 24 November 1933 vol 283 c407W
Mr. McENTEE

asked the Home Secretary the nature of the duties of the newly-appointed chief inspectors of the Metropolitan Police who have no previous police experience, and the divisions to which they are posted for duty; and whether they are subject to the discipline code of the statutory regulations?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The officers in question are not being posted to divisions. Three of them will be on the staff of the Deputy - Assistant Commissioners in charge of three of the four districts, to assist generally in the work of supervising the district and co-ordinating the work in the divisions. The fourth will be at New Scotland Yard in control of the operation of motor vehicles fitted with wireless apparatus. In relation to the discipline code they will be in the same position as other members of the force.
