asked the President of the Board of Trade the average wholesale and retail price of fish of recognised qualities for the weeks ended 31st July and 31st October, and the British and foreign landings for the comparable weeks?

The average wholesale prices at Billingsgate Market of the undermentioned kinds of fish in the weeks ended 31st July and 31st October, 1933, were as follow:

Information is not available as to weekly British and foreign landings. According to the returns of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and of the Northern Ireland Fishery Board, the total quantity of fish of British taking returned as landed in the United Kingdom during the month of July was 1,724,154 cwts. valued at £1,264,679; the corresponding preliminary figures for October are 1,813,654 cwts. and £1,511,101. The, quantity of foreign fresh and frozen fish imported into Great Britain and Northern Ireland in July was 149,825 cwts. valued at £336,354, and in October, 111,924 cwts. valued at £178,822.
