HC Deb 20 March 1933 vol 276 c48W
Duchess of ATHOLL

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of producers who it is estimated would be eligible for registration under the proposed raspberry marketing scheme?

Sir G. COLLINS

The total number of growers of raspberries in Scotland, as returned on 4th June, 1932, is 937. Of these, 433 grew in that year more than one acre, and 504 grew one acre or less. The latter are entitled to exemption from the provisions of the scheme, but may nevertheless be registered as producers, without the right of voting at the initial poll on the question whether the scheme shall remain in force. Manufacturers who grow raspberries for their own use and not for sale are in the same position.
