HC Deb 20 July 1933 vol 46 cc143-4W
Mr. Gould

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the ratio of the Bank of England's purchase of Treasury bills, in each of the years 1979 to 1981, to the increase in the money supply; and whether any assessment is made by the Treasury of the relationship between such purchases and the rate of interest.

Mr. Lawson

I regularly meet other European Community Finance Ministers. The last meeting was on 11 July, and I refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Bedfordshire, South-West (Mr. Madel) on 14 July for details of the discussions. —[Vol. 45, c.396.] The next meeting of EC Finance Ministers is planned for 10–11 September in Greece.
