Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will give details of the diplomatic representation of the United Kingdom in Ethiopia.

Mr. Luce

The British ambassador in Ethiopia is supported by a first secretary, cultural attaché—British Council representative — three second secretaries and two attachés.

Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the relations of the United Kingdom with Ethiopia.

Mr. Rifkind

The British Government have normal diplomatic relations with Ethiopia. As my hon. Friend the Member for Woking (Mr. Onslow) informed my hon. Friend the Member for Hazel Grove (Mr. Arnold) on 18 April — [Vol. 41, c.21]—we are currently providing considerable emergency aid to Ethiopia for famine relief.
