HC Deb 20 July 1933 vol 46 c159W
Mr. Randall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he proposes to discuss with representatives of the Ethiopian Government the application of United Kingdom assistance for the relief of famine in Tigre and Eritrea.

Mr. Raison

I have no plans for such discussions. Earlier this year I approved contributions totalling £500,575 to relief organisations working in Ethiopia and £425,575 of this was to British voluntary agencies to be used at their discretion for relief work in Wollo, Gondar, Eritrea and Tigre provinces.

Mr. Tom Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will seek to discuss with other European Community Governments and with the United States Government the development of a common policy on the provision of aid to Ethiopia.
