§ Mr. REMERasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that the prospectus recently issued by the Gaumont-British Picture Corporation states that this concern is indirectly controlled by the Fox Film Corporation; and what steps are being taken to prevent the evasion of the Cinematograph Act, 1927, by this corporation, to safeguard British rights, and to prevent the name British being used by a foreign-controlled firm?
§ Dr. BURGINI cannot find any statement in the prospectus to which my hon. Friend refers to the effect that the Gaumont-British Picture Corporation is indirectly controlled by the Fox Film Corporation. The remainder of the question does not therefore arise. On 22nd December last, in reply to a question by my hon. Friend, I gave him the information available at that date in regard to the control of the Gaumont-British Picture Corporation and I have no official information to show that there has been any change in the position since then.
