§ Mr. DORANasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement as to the reply he gave to the representations addressed to him by the Polish and Italian Ambassadors regarding the broadcast on New Year's Eve; and what is the present position in this matter?
§ Sir J. SIMON:I replied to the Polish Ambassador that, while regretting the occasion which gave rise to his Note, I was glad to learn that the British Broadcasting Corporation had themselves tendered an explanation to His Excellency, as a result of which the incident might be considered closed. No representations were made to me by the Italian Ambassador. The last part of the question, therefore, does not arise.
