HC Deb 25 April 1933 vol 277 c28W
Mr. GUY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of houses in Scotland demonished under slum clearance schemes, or otherwise, during the period from 1919 to the nearest convenient date?

Sir G. COLLINS

Complete figures for the period covered by the question are not available, but it is estimated that during the period from 1919 to 31st March, 1933, 24,100 houses were closed or demolished in connection with schemes promoted by local authorities with State assistance specifically for the rehousing of persons displaced from unfit houses. I have no information as to the number of houses closed or demolished otherwise than in connection with such schemes.
