HL Deb 12 April 1933 vol 87 c594WA
LORD STRACHIE

asked His Majesty's Government what duties (if any) are imposed on any forms of manufactured milk products or upon tinned whole or skimmed milk, or upon powdered milk, imported into Britain from countries outside the British Empire, and the amount of those duties in the last financial year?

LORD TEMPLEMORE

Manufactured milk products cover a wide range of articles and it would be impracticable to give all the details in a reply to a Question. I am, however, sending the noble Lord a copy of the current issue of the official Tariff from which he will be able to ascertain the existing rate of duty on any articles he has in mind. The noble Lord will appreciate that milk may enter into the constitution of so many manufactured articles that it is not possible to state with accuracy the revenue derived therefrom. As regards milk products, of which details of revenue are separately kept, I regret that the information desired by the noble Lord is not yet available, but if he repeats his Question after the Recess stating the specific categories as set out in the Tariff in which he is interested, every effort will be made to furnish the information.

House adjourned at twenty-three minutes past six o'clock.
