HC Deb 02 November 1932 vol 269 c1793W
Mr. PERKINS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether his attention has been drawn to a new type of parachute costing £30; and whether the Air Ministry are satisfied as to the strength of this new type?

Sir P. SASSOON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, it is proposed to test this parachute in the near future.

Mr. PERKINS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that an accident involving the death of two flying officers occurred at Farnborough on 27th October; and whether these men were provided with parachutes and the height at which the accident occurred?

Sir P. SASSOON

In the most regrettable accident to which my hon. Friend refers both the occupants of the machine were equipped with parachutes which were not, however, utilised; the accident occurred at a height of approximately 3,000 feet.
