HC Deb 02 November 1932 vol 269 c1796W
Mr. THORNE

asked the Home Secretary the cost incurred for marshalling 1,000 police and special constables at the County Hall to prevent disturbances on 24th October in connection with the deputation of unemployed to the London County Council?

Sir J. GILMOUR

Apart from a sum of £15 for the hire of horses for mounted special constables, the only extra expenditure involved was for travelling expenses and, in some cases, for refreshment allowances. I should add that the total of 1,000 includes the police on duty not only at the County Hall but also in the surrounding districts.
