asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the total value of exports from Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the 10 years ended 31st December, 1931, respectively, to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, the United States of America, Germany, France, and the Argentine; and the purchases per head of population by these countries, respectively, during the same period?

The following table shows the total declared value of the exports (including re-exports) of merchandise from the United Kingdom during the 10 years ended 31st December, 1931, registered as consigned to the under-mentioned countries, together with the total amount per head of the average population of these countries during that period.

During the 10 years ended 31st December, 1931, the aggregate declared value of the domestic exports of merchandise from the United Kingdom consigned to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the Union of South Africa per head of the aggregate population of those countries averaged £5 4s. per annum. The corresponding average in respect of exports to Germany, France, the United States of America and the Argentine Republic was 12s. Prior to 1st April, 1923, the particulars include the exports from ports in Southern Ireland
