asked the Minister of Transport the total amount of expenditure by local authorities on highway account during each of the last three years for which figures are available; and what amount was contributed from the Road Fund in each of those years.

The amounts expended by the local authorities in Great Britain on highway account (including loan charges, but excluding expenditure defrayed from loans) during each of the last three years for which complete information is available and the amounts paid to the local authorities under grants from the Road Fund during each of those years were as follow:—
