HC Deb 04 March 1932 vol 262 c1416W
Mr. JENNINGS

asked the Home Secretary if he will introduce legislation to prohibit all-in wrestling matches taking place in this country.

Sir H. SAMUEL

No representations on this subject appear to have reached the Home Office. If the hon. Member will furnish me with the information on the points which he has in mind, I will consider the matter.

Mr. JENNINGS

asked the Home Secretary if he will introduce legislation to prohibit all boxing or wrestling encounters between men of white race and of coloured race in this country.

Sir H. SAMUEL

I do not think that legislation on the lines suggested by my hon. Friend could be justified. The question whether such encounters are desirable depends largely on the circumstances attending each individual case. The matter is primarily one for the organizations responsible for these contests.
