asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office (1) what was the number of civilian clerks serving in Army pay offices in Great Britain on 1st January, 1929;

(2) what is the number of civilian clerks serving in Army pay offices in Great Britain at the present time?

The number of civilian clerks employed in Army pay offices in Great Britain and Northern Ireland on 1st January, 1929, was 495, and at the present time is 379.
