HC Deb 13 June 1932 vol 267 cc33-4W
Mr. R. BEAUMONT

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that employment in the Navy, Army and Air Force Institute canteens on Salisbury Plain is being offered to Portsmouth girls by the local Employment Exchange, and that, although many of these girls are unaccustomed to this type of work and are reluctant to accept it, refusal entails disqualification for unemployment benefit; and will he take steps to ensure that this type of employment is offered, in the first instance, to girls whose age, as well as their previous work, renders them suitable?

Mr. HUDSON

I am having inquiries made, and will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as possible.
