§ Mr. LEONARDasked the hon. and gallant Member for Rye, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, whether he is aware that, as a result of the Forestry Commission having taken over a large area of farming land near Fort Augustus, Inverness-shire, for tree planting, milk has now to be imported to Fort Augustus from Lanarkshire; and if he will give an assurance that no further tracts of farming land shall be used for tree planting?
§ Sir G. COURTHOPEThe Forestry Commission have not taken over, nor do they propose to take over, any farming land near Fort Augustus for tree planting. Some 80 acres of arable land were acquired for use as forest nursery and for forest workers' holdings. Milk has been imported into Fort Augustus for years and not because of the Commission's operations.
