HC Deb 11 July 1932 vol 268 cc920-1W
Wing-Commander JAMES

asked the Secretary of State for India whether, in view of the fact that the rates of pay of the services in India were adjusted in accordance with the recommendations of the Lee Commission, which did not anticipate the imposition of high tariffs upon articles, particularly for European consumption, entering India, he will review these rates of pay in view of the duties recently imposed or, alternatively, introduce a cost-of-living basis of pay?

Sir S. HOARE

It is not proposed to review the scales of pay of the services to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers.
