HC Deb 07 July 1932 vol 268 cc638-9W
Mr. G. HALL

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the two officers of the Ceylon prison service, gaoler Sheddon and head-overseer Simon Pulle, who have been dismissed from the service in accordance with the recommendation of the Public Services Commission, have been, or are to be, prosecuted in a criminal court for their assault on the prisoner Balasuriya, which led to the prison inquiry conducted by Mr. Justice Garvin?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I have not received any report from the Governor regarding the action taken or to be taken on any recommendation which the Public Services Commission may have submitted to him in this matter, but I will make inquiries.
