Mr. HUDSONBetween 12th November, 1931, and 4th June, 1932, 1,180 initial applications for transitional payments, and 1,967 renewals were referred to the Shrewsbury Public Assistance Committee. Out of the total of 3,147 determinations given, payment was allowed at maximum benefit rates in 1,099 cases, and in 1,605 at lower rates, while in 443 cases the needs of applicants were held not to justify payment being made.
