§ Mr. SMITHERSasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the approaching London Conference to stabilise the commodity price level, he will, before that conference meets, take steps to ascertain the opinions of other countries, in order if possible to obtain an agreed world policy with regard to the economic policy of Soviet Russia?
§ Mr. EDENMy hon. Friend will remember that the second part of the agenda for the Lausanne Conference relates to economic and financial matters. The question of the manner in which this part of the agenda should be approached, whether at Lausanne or elsewhere, is still in a preliminary stage. It will be appreciated, therefore, that I am not yet in a position to make any pronouncement as regards the line of action which His 455W Majesty's Government will be likely to follow at the proposed Economic Conference.
