HC Deb 05 July 1932 vol 268 c262W
Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Minister of Transport the number of bridges constructed or re-constructed to which grants of public money have been made during the last two years, respectively; and the number at present under construction or re-construction or for which construction or re-construction has been approved?

Mr. PYBUS

Records were kept in my Department up to the end of 1930–31 respecting schemes of bridge construction and re-construction estimated to cost £2,500 and upwards, or included in composite schemes involving that expenditure, which were assisted by grants from the Road Fund. These records have now been discontinued in the interests of economy. Summaries of the information have been published in the annual reports on the administration of the Road Fund. The collection of information for the year 1931–32 and for the current year would involve expense, and I therefore hope that my hon. Friend will not press for it.
