HC Deb 02 February 1932 vol 261 c37W
Mr. FLANAGAN

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can now make any statement as to the intentions of the Government with regard to the extension of any measure of protection to the cotton industry?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

So far as the Abnormal Importations (Customs Duties) Act is concerned, my hon. Friend is, no doubt, aware that a wide range of cotton goods is covered by the terms of the No. 3 Order made on 17th December. As regards future policy, I would ask him to await the statement which is to be made on behalf of the Government.
