Note.—The Exchequer contributes one-half of the annual cost incurred by the local authority in providing assistance under the Acts, spread over 20 years.

The estimated total cost to the Exchequer in 1932–33 is £16,000.

Notes.—

(1) The Exchequer contributes one-half of the annual cost incurred by the local authority in providing assistance under the Acts spread over 20 years. The estimated total cost to the Exchequer in 1932–33 = £24,000.

(2) The number of houses in respect of which applications have been refused is not available for Scotland and is not obtainable without calling for the information from each local authority, many of whom might have difficulty in supplying it.

(3) All county councils and town councils in Scotland are local authorities under the Acts. Those local authorities not enumerated in the first column of this Return have not adopted schemes and are not operating the Acts. All county councils have adopted schemes.
