HC Deb 07 April 1932 vol 264 c317W
Mr. HEALY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that an industrial assurance company registered in Great Britain can transact business in Northern Ireland without making the statutory deposit there, whereas a similar company registered in Northern Ireland and having made its statutory deposit there is not permitted to do business in Great Britain; and if he will consider the adoption of mutual arrangements between the two countries?

Major ELLIOT

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. If there is any demand for mutual arrangements, the matter will be considered, but I would point out to the hon. Member that legislation would be necessary.
