HC Deb 17 September 1931 vol 256 cc1048-9W
Mr. ROSS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that there were cases in the month of June of illegal inshore trawling by Fleetwood trawlers off the coast of county Londonderry; and whether he will take steps to prevent a recurrence of such incidents?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I am aware that one Fleetwood trawler was convicted for illegal fishing off the coast of county Londonderry in June last and was fined £100 and £20 costs. With regard to the second part of the question, the responsibility for policing the fisheries off the coasts of Northern Ireland does not rest with me, but with the Government of Northern Ireland.
