HC Deb 17 September 1931 vol 256 cc1042-3W
Mr. T. SMITH

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the Government contemplate taking any action with regard to hydrogenation of coal other than by research; and, if so, the nature of such action?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

The Government have not yet had an opportunity of considering whether it would be desirable or practicable for them to take any action in regard to the hydrogenation of coal, and I am not therefore able to make any statement on the subject.
