HC Deb 17 September 1931 vol 256 c1041W
Mr. McELWEE

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that one of the men who received imprisonment arising out of the disturbance in Manchester on 16th August had gone to the place to search for one of his children when he was assaulted by the police; and if, in these circumstances, he will order an inquiry into the conduct of the police?

Sir H. SAMUEL

As I have already informed the hon. Member, inquiry into the circumstances has been made, and I could find no ground for the complaints of the conduct of the police; there is no ground for ordering further inquiry.
