HC Deb 25 November 1931 vol 260 c405W
Lieut.-Colonel MOORE

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention. has been called to the dissatisfaction caused by the decision of the local traffic commissioner not to license a service of omnibuses every 15 minutes between Ayr and Troon; and whether, at the conclusion of the current year, he purposes to review the general policy of all traffic commissioners with a view to ensuring that the general interests of the public are given due weight as against the interests of the competing transport organisations?

Mr. PYBUS

I cannot trace any representation or appeal in the matter. With regard to the second part of my hon. Friend's question, I would point out that the commissioners are required under Section 72 of the Road Traffic Act, 1930, when considering an application for a road service licence to have regard amongst other matters to the extent to which the proposed service is necessary or desirable in the public interest, and I have no reason to believe that the commissioners are not giving due weight to this consideration.
