asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the names of the National Debt Commissioners; whether the Chancellor of the Exchequer is a member of the Commission; and who is the chairman?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt are the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Master of the Rolls, the Lord Chief Justice, the Accountant-General of the Supreme Court, and the Governor and Deputy-Governor of the Bank of England. There is no formally appointed chairman.
