HC Deb 19 November 1931 vol 259 c1036W
Major CARVER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that, assuming the average gravity of beer now produced and sold remains at the last pre-Budget level, the actual duty on beer amounts to, approximately, 3½d. a pint, or actually ½d. more than the full average retail price of a pint of beer in 1913, he proposes to reduce this duty at an early date?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

My hon. and gallant Friend will not expect me to anticipate the next Budget statement.
