HC Deb 19 November 1931 vol 259 cc1038-9W
Mr. D. ADAMS

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that serious accidents frequently take place outside Bow Road District Railway Station, and if he will inquire as to the number of accidents which have taken place since the erection of refuges in the middle of the road by order of the Ministry of Transport, the local authority, and the police; and will he take any other possible steps to ensure the safety of the pedestrians wishing to cross the road?

Mr. PYBUS

I am aware that a number of accidents have occurred outside this station. The refuges were provided by the local authority in agreement with my Department. I am now considering, in consultation with the local authority and the Commissioner of Police, what further measures can be taken to ensure greater safety for pedestrians as well as for all other classes of road users at this point.
