§ Sir J. REYNOLDSasked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that on 398W 16th October a telegraphic order for the purchase of sugar, handed in at the Exchange news room, Liverpool, at 11.15, was overlooked in the tube and that this was not reported back until 3.40; and what he proposes to do to eliminate such possibilities in the future?
§ Sir K. WOODI regret the delay to the telegram in question. Provision is made for a frequent examination of the containers after their withdrawal from the tube to ensure that no message has been overlooked, but the telegram was, unfortunately, not observed when this check was made on the present occasion. The importance of a thorough examination has been emphasised. Such failures are most exceptional, and I hope the steps taken will prevent any recurrence at Liverpool.
