HC Deb 04 May 1931 vol 252 c42W
Mr. WHITE

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if he has any information with regard to trade missions which are being sent out by foreign countries on the lines of those successfully initiated by his own Department; and, if so, will he give particulars?

Mr. GILLETT

The only foreign official trade missions of which I have any definite knowledge are a French Economic Mission to Poland in the summer of 1929, a mission of French industrialists to Northern Africa in 1930, a similar projected French mission to visit Scandinavia and the Baltic States this summer, and finally a series of 26 Japanese missions to various parts of the world in 1930. I am sending the hon. Member a list of these Japanese missions.
