HC Deb 02 March 1931 vol 249 cc42-3W
Mr. MALONE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that Russian timber is being imported into Lithuania, Estonia, and Finland, and being resold by timber exporters in those countries to Western Europe as Baltic or Finnish timber; and whether he has had any complaints as to the labour conditions of those handling that timber?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I have no knowledge of the facts alleged in the first part of the question. As regards the second part, my hon. Friend is aware that allegations have been made with regard to labour conditions in Russia. No similar complaints have been made to me with reference to the Baltic countries.
