HC Deb 02 March 1931 vol 249 cc55-6W
Sir H. CAYZER

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the difficulty which drivers of motor vehicles experience at night time in reading road direction posts, etc., owing to the height of the posts being such that they do not come within the beam of the motor headlights, he will consider the proposal that when road direction posts, etc., are being erected in future they will be placed at a lower level, so that the directions may be more readily readable?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I am fully alive to the difficulty to which the hon. and gallant Member refers, and will take the point into consideration when the regulations which I am empowered by Section 48 of the Road Traffic Act, 1930, to make with regard to direction posts are under consideration.
