§ Mr. HAMMERSLEYasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his Department proposes to introduce any administrative economies in advance of and apart from the economies which the economy committee may recommend?
§ Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCEMy right hon. Friend expects to receive the report of the National Expenditure Committee at an early date. The hon. Member may however, rest assured that under the regular machinery of control no opportunity is lost of securing whatever administrative savings may be possible, nor would the absence of specific recommendations by the committee in any way affect the constant endeavour to secure all practicable economies of the kind he has in mind.
