Mr. MORGAN-JONESIt is not possible to answer the question in the precise terms in which it is put. I may say, however, that of the free pupils who left secondary schools on the Grant List in England and Wales after the age of 14 years during the school year 1929–30, 63.5 per cent. sat for, and 54.4 per cent. passed approved first examinations. Comparable figures for approved second examinations are not available.
