§ Lieut. - Colonel WINDSOR - CLIVEasked the Minister of Transport whether he has received a copy of a resolution 633W passed by the town council of Bishop's Castle requesting him to promote legislation in order to make it compulsory for the Great Western Railway Company to take over and work the Bishop's Castle railway; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISONI have received a copy of the Resolution to which the hon. and gallant Member refers. I have recently been informed by the Great Western Railway Company that after careful consideration they have come to the conclusion that there are no prospects of developing the traffic which would justify the expenditure which would be required if they were to acquire and work the railway in question, and that, in these circumstances, they are not able to adopt this suggestion. I do not propose to promote legislation for the compulsory transfer of the railway.
