§ Mr. FREEMANasked the Minister of Agriculture, in view of the reduction of wages of farm workers in Suffolk to 28s. a week by the Suffolk agricultural wages board, whether any other county has fixed a wage less than 30s.; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?
§ Dr. ADDISONAs stated in my reply on Monday to the hon. Member for Eye (Mr. Granville), the reduced minimum rates proposed by the Suffolk Agricultural Wages Committee cannot be fixed until after the expiration of the statutory period during which objections may be lodged. Apart from special rates for certain classes of workers in the East Riding of Yorkshire, the minimum rates of agricultural wages as fixed at present are in no part of England and Wales less than 30s. per week for whole-time adult male workers employed by the week or longer.
