HC Deb 26 February 1931 vol 248 c2303W
Major NATHAN

asked the Minister of Labour whether she is aware of an unsatisfied demand for skilled girl machinists in the tailoring industry in the boroughs of Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, and Stepney; and whether she proposes to take steps to satisfy this demand?

Miss BONDFIELD

I am aware that there is at present the normal seasonal shortage of skilled women machinists for the tailoring industry. The Employment Exchanges are making every effort to fill the vacancies notified to them by employers.
