HC Deb 26 February 1931 vol 248 c2317W
Mr. HAMMERSLEY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is prepared to co-operate in any measures for the stabilisation of silver?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

If any practicable proposals for the stabilisation of silver were submitted by the interests concerned, I would of course give them careful consideration, but, as I have already said, it seems to me that it would be difficult to deal with silver effectively except as part of the wider problem of price stabilisation generally.
